Inmates achieve 82.6% for matric exams

While the class of 2019 is celebrating their great achievement in reaching over 80% for their matric pass rate, the department of correctional services also announced the 82.6% achieved by inmates who wrote their 2019 matric examinations.

The announcement was gratifying as 133 convicts passed and 65 achieved bachelor passes. The department added that 161 inmates had written the examinations.

According to the department of correctional services, “This was an improvement from the 77.3% pass rate prisoners achieved the year before. The department had 16 full-time correctional centre schools and two public-private partnership centres, and six of those schools recorded a 100% pass rate in the 2019 exams”.
