Moroka Police search for mother of abandoned baby boy

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a baby boy estimated to be one of two days old at Moroka police station fence in Soweto. An abandoned new baby boy was found by passer-by wrapped with a jacket near the police station fence on recently. 

Police-Station Spokeswoman Majang Skalkie told Gauteng News that the abandoned baby boy was discovered by a passer-by.

“On Tuesday, 12 January 2021 a passer-by found a new born baby boy wrapped with a jacket near the police station fence. It is alleged that the baby was abandoned,”

“The baby was taken to Chiawelo Clinic for check-upand later transferred to Baragwanath hospital for further treatment. At this stage mother of the baby is unknown,”she said.

She urged members of the public to assist the law enforcement with the information of the incident.

“We appeal to the community if they have any information regarding the incident to please contact Sgt Pride Mazibuko of Moroka SAPS on 082 561 3434. All information received will be strictly treated as confidential.” She appealed.
