A woman accused of killing a toddler in Benoni is expected to appear in court on Monday where she will learn her fate.
Mannana Tsabane is charged with strangling a 19-month-old baby, who she was entrusted to look after.
Police say the 51-year-old childminder was arrested after a preliminary investigation linked her to the murder.
She told authorities attackers entered the house and poisoned her and the child before taking off with him.
She claimed she had been unable to make contact with the toddler’s mother or call for help.
The nanny had been looking after the child since he was two-months-old, and mostly stayed alone with him while everyone was at work.
The boy was later found dead in the family’s storeroom.
Tsabane is charged with his murder as well as trying to conceal it.
