Aubrey Manaka (28) appeared in court on 2 December after being accused of raping and stabbing Precious Ramabulana to death. Precious was a 21-year-old student enrolled at Capricorn TVET College.
Manaka was arrested on Thursday, the 28th of November, four days after Ramabulana’s body was found in her residence in Mokomene. During his court appearance in Morebeng magistrate’s court, Manaka was charged with rape, murder and housebreaking. Aubrey Manaka was arrested at his parent’s home in Botlokwa (Limpopo) after the police had found Ramabulana’s phone, murder weapon and blood-stained clothes in the suspect’s possession.
The courtroom was packed with community members and students enrolled at Capricorn TVET college. They were carrying posters written ‘Justice for Precious Ramabulana’ and ‘Murderers belong in hell’. Reginald Mobe, a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) said, “I wish he could apply for bail because we needed to see him man to man so that we can deal with him decisively. If he could be killed, it would really show that we don’t allow such barbaric behaivour”.
Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said Manaka has been denied bail and will appear in court again on the 30th of January 2020. Malabi-Dzhangi said investigations into the gruesome murder will continue.
