The management at the Vaal University of Technology(VUT) has finally responded to students demands following protests. Responding to the demands by students the University has announced that students who have been on NSFAS must get their qualifications and those who owe the university.
“All students funded by NSFAS will get their qualifications, provided there is no other debt which is not covered by NSFAS,” said the management.
“The university has mechanisms in place to assist all those who are seeking employment opportunities and funding,”
The management said that all students funded by NSFAS will be permitted to register.
“A total of 15 927 students that are made up of 4 481 first entrance students and 11 446 returning students have been funded by NSFAS and haven since been unblocked for registration,”
The university says it is engaging NSFAS to clear students that are part of the 2017-2019 close out project as discussed with ISRC at the meeting with VUT representative, ISRC and NSFAS officials.
The management has also announced that they will assist all students who need laptops and data to participate in online Teaching and Learning.
“Study materials has been made available through online student portals to all registered students,”
Students have also been urged to register online and not come to campus to wait in queues.
