Banyana Banyana star signed by AC Milan

Refiloe Jane has made history by being the first South African woman to be signed by an Italian club such as AC Milan. The midfielder is currently in Italy and made her debut at the weekend when Milan obliterated Napoli with a 5-0 victory. 

Jane’s signing comes at a time when women’s soccer in South Africa is starting to get coverage after a long period of marginalization. The SAFA women’s league kicked off on 24 August 2019 however the league is still in its amateur phase. 

The midfielder was congratulated by the Minister of sport, arts and culture Nathi Mthethwa who assured her of their full support. With signings of this sort it is clear that female soccer players are slowly gaining the recognition due to them

Banyana’s vice-captain has proven herself a force to be reckoned with when showcasing her soccer wizardry on the field. Wearing jersey number 15 soccer icon Doctor Khumalomust be proud of Jane representing the number he made so famous.
